The former Sooner beats out Courtney Paris for the final roster spot.
Abi Olajuwon, playing for the Sky in a preseason game, said she and Courtney Paris decided to support each other.

As a three-year understudy of Courtney Paris, Abi Olajuwon admits she learned a thing or two from her mentor.
"She taught me so much," Olajuwon said in a phone interview on Sunday. "I got the chance to see what both Courtney and  Ashley (Paris) liked about playing overseas. Their likes and dislikes. Courtney also played in the WNBA last year and sort of told  me what to expect."
What the mentor and pupil didn't expect was that a final roster spot with the Chicago Sky would come down to the two former  Oklahoma teammates.

The New York Liberty has acquired guard Nikki Blue from the Washington Mystics in exchange for guard Ashley Houts, it was announced today by team President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski.
Blue, 26, is a 5-8 guard from Bakersfield, CA and has a career average of 3.0 ppg, 1.8 apg and 1.4 rpg during her four seasons in Washington. She appeared in 16 games in the 2009 regular season while shooting .333-percent from long range. She was originally selected as the 19th overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft.

Brittainey Raven didn’t even wait around long enough to hear her name announced in the WNBA Draft earlier this month.

“It was coming down to the last picks,” Raven remembers, “and I just decided I couldn’t watch anymore.”

Then, her phone started chirping. Calls, texts -- friends were delivering the news. Raven was selected No. 33 by the Atlanta Dream, and became the ninth player in Texas Women's Basketball history to be drafted in the WNBA since the league's inception in 1997, and the first since Tiffany Jackson in 2007.
